How to use Listing Titles

3 min read · Published August 11, 2026

Listing Titles is the fastest way to get three good titles for a product. Use it when you're writing a new listing, or when an existing one isn't getting found. The titles come back search-ready: the important words up front, inside Etsy's limit.

What you'll fill in

These are the fields the tool asks for, exactly as they appear in the app. Required fields are marked; the rest you can leave blank and CopySprout fills the gaps.

  • ProductRequired

The specific item as shoppers see it — be exact.

    Example: Hand-thrown ceramic mug

  • MaterialsRequired

What it’s made from — Etsy shoppers filter by this.

    Example: stoneware, food safe glaze

  • Style or themeRequired

Words shoppers use to find this style.

    Example: boho, minimalist

  • Who it is forRequired

Who will love or use this — helps the writing speak to them.

    Example: coffee lovers

  • Your keyword ideasOptional

Any words you think buyers already search for.

    Example: ceramic mug, stoneware mug

How to use it

  1. Open the app and pick Listing Titles from the Listings group.
  2. Fill in the details below. Be exact about the product and its materials, and add the style and audience if you know them. The keyword box is optional, but any words you already know buyers search for will steer the titles.
  3. Run it. You get three titles back, each one under 140 characters and front-loaded with search words.
  4. Pick your favorite, or hit More options for three more to choose from.
  5. Copy the title into your listing. Done.

What you get

Three titles, each using the words buyers search for, all fitted under Etsy's 140 character limit. If none of them fit perfectly, More options gives you three more in the same run.

Tips

  • Titles over 140 characters get cut off in Etsy search, so keep the one you choose under the limit. CopySprout checks this for you.
  • Lead with the product itself, not the occasion. Someone searching "ceramic coffee mug" should see that phrase in your first few words.
